June 24th 2013

Aloha everybody!!!
We had a great week last week. We have 3 baptisms coming up on Saturday the 29th. We are super excited! All we need to do is teach them two more lessons and then set it up the baptism. I guess thats the highlight for missionary work this week. Oh wait, we also had a mini missionary with us on Thursday and Friday, his name was Elder Higuchi (I think thats how you spell it), and he's 17 years old and is thinking about serving a mission. We told him how much fun it is and helped encourage him. He did pretty good for never being a missionary before. He had to leave friday night because he flew to Utah on Saturday to go to BYU's SOAR program. I think he said it was like a tour program. He helped us teach the 3 kids that are getting baptized. Amber still has a baptismal date for the 14th of July. Overall we had a fun week. We didn't do anything special today, so sorry about that. Umm don't know what else to say besides that i'm super excited for the baptisms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

June 17th 2013

Aloha everybody!!
We had a pretty good week this week. We had stake conference yesterday so, I was able to understand all of it. It was actually really good, everybody that went said they liked it a lot, the Spirit was strong. President Dalton also spoke at the conference, which is kind of funny because he spoke at the stake conference in Kaneohe, and now in Waipahu and I got to be there both times. We also had zone conference wednesday last week. It was really good. It was the last zone conference we will have with president Dalton. I think we sang "Aloha Oe" to him like 4 times now. We had zone conference with 4 zones, Honolulu, Hon-west, Waipahu, and Makakilo. I got to see my old companion Elder Dorff, who is now in the Samoan ward in Makakilo, lol. We talked to each other at lunch. After zone conference Elder Merrill took us to see a super awesome view overlooking all of Honolulu and Hon-west. It was soo cool!!!  I'm definetly going to show you guys when we come back, it looks way better than the pictures that I took. It was super windy up there. Our work here is going pretty good in the Samoan ward. Our ward mission leader wants to make us a list of everyday Samoan phrases and other important phrases for us since we know very little about the language. All I know is how to say hello, goodbye, i'm full, i'm hungry, and thank you.  Lol.  We are teaching 3 kids that are unbaptized right now and Amber still. We did find out out this week that Amber has a smoking problem, so we taught her the Word of Wisdom. Hopefully she will be able to quit before the end of next month, before Elder Willyerd goes home.
That's all for this week. Aloha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

June 10, 2013

Aloha everybody!!! I bet you guys are wondering how I like the Samoan ward. Well they feed you a lot! They make a family sized dinner just for the 2 of us and the food we don't eat and even more food they make us take home. We've only 4 dinner apts. so far and our fridge went from being almost empty to full! At church, sacrament meeting is in Samoan, so I didn't understand any of it, I can only understand when they say thank you and when they say Jesus. Sunday school is in english, and priesthood is in samoan. My companion Elder Willyerd doesn't understand samoan either, he does know a few more phrases though, he's been in this ward for 6 weeks. It's funny that they decided to put 2 white people that don't know the language, in a language ward. usually they have 1 missionary that speaks and one that's learning. On Saturday we went to a baptism for Madison in Ewa 1st ward. Me and Elder Dorff taught her and she was ready for baptism, but she didn't have permission from her parents yet when I left. But now she is baptized so that's cool that I got to see it. They whitewashed Ewa 1st again, Elders Merrill and Andreasky are serving there. Elder Merrill came with me from Kaneohe, so I know him. 'In the Samoan ward we have a  few investigators and one of them is really close to being baptized, her name is Amber she's 23 I think. Sunday was her 2nd time coming to church. So we're going to meet with her a lot this week. It's weird being back in Waipahu, It feels like it's been forever since I was here. We live in Ewa beach. I Already know almost half of our area which is all of Waipahu zone. the other half is Millilani which is the biggest zone on this Island. Well that's all for this week. Aloha!!!

June 3rd 2013

Aloha everybody!!!!!!! Last night we got transfer calls. Me and Elder Mendoza will be getting transfered to Waipahu. This time I'll be in a Samoan ward with Elder Willyerd, and Elder Mendoza will be with Elder Verdera who is from the Phillipenes too. This is so weird. I wonder if Elder Dorff is staying in Ewa 1st, probably not. I heard Elder Dorff baptized Ronel and Elijah after I left, I started teaching Ronel and Elijah with Elder Dorff so that's awesome! I was a part of 3 baptisms. In Kahaluu, they are going to put sisters there. They've had sisters before a long time ago though. I hope the sisters will continue teaching all of our investigators, which, I'm sure they will. Well it's been great serving in the Kaneohe zone! Now back to Waipahu!
Elder Packer, the one who can play all of me and is super awesome on the piano, will be going home this week, I'm going to miss him a lot. Elder Willyerd will also be leaving after this transfer, so I'll be his dying companion lol!
We did a hike this morning, finally! We went to manawili falls. The hike was super muddy and slippery!!!! My shoes are brown now lol! I didn't know it would be that muddy. but we had lots of fun doing the hike. I took a lot of pictures too, I might have to do seperate emails for them. Well, next week I'll tell you all about Waipahu and the Samoan ward!!
Aloha!!!!!

P.S. Pics will be in separate email.

May 27th 2013

Aloha everybody!
I had a fun week last week! On wednesday I went on exchanges with Elder Devore in Waimanalo which is the closest area to Honolulu zone I think. Elder Devore came out with Sister Willis in March. We ended up doing service in the morning with the zone leaders up untill lunch time, and then the member we did service for took us out to eat. Right now Elder Devore and his companion Elder Allen are staying with the zone leaders because their apartment in Waimanalo got some fire damage because the apartment right next to theirs caught on fire. The zone leaders live like 2 minutes away from us so we didn't have to drive very far for exchanges, but in the morning we drove all the way to Waimanalo, which is like 30 min away, so they put lots of miles on their car. Sunday was our Ward Conference and it was well done, they even had a  program for each hour of church! The Stake President was impressed. On memorial day we got up early and helped set up for the ward picnic/party at 7am, we got done setting up at 10:30am and the picnic started at 11am and they wanted us to stay so we could help put everything away when we were done. They had a ton of food, or as they say it, Choke food!!! I ended up just drinking alot of water and juice with a little bit of food because we played football and kickball the whole time. We had lots of fun and I got sunburnt. When other Elders saw me, they were like what happened to your face?!?! Today we went to the Temple that's why I didn't email yesterday. I got to see my MTC companion Elder Garrett Miller because today was their temple day too! I made sure I took pictures too! Transfers are coming up on june 5th and I have a feeling that I will be taking over my area again! At least I know most of the people now and I'll continue working with the investigators we have, and right now we have a person with a baptism date on June 15th and she said she really wants to be baptized so next transfer will be exciting I hope!
Aloha!!! talk to you next week!
Love,
Elder Randall
