Aloha !!!!
Howz it everybody!
This last week has been fun. I'm staring to get to know my way around Honolulu now. One thing that I've noticed since I've been here in Honolulu is that everyone is busy, especially the members. Since I've been here, we haven't had a dinner inside a members home, they always drop off food for us. But that doesn't stop them from giving us tons of referrals! Elder Havili has been in this ward for like 7 months and most of the converts he taught were from members bringing friends to church. Elder Havili said that this ward is growing rapidly. My companion says that we have a baptism scheduled for next week, so we are going to meet with them this week hopefully because I still haven't met them yet. So work moves pretty fast here, the members help a lot even though they're super busy, and I'm not forced to eat more than I want to haha! lol! I think that by the time i come home, I'll be tired of rice.
Last week before I finished emailing I said that we would be doing  a hike to the makapu'u lighthouse later in the day, I took pictures for you guys. We had lots of fun that day. My companion Elder Havili put 20lb weights in a back pack to take with him for the hike! I thought he was crazy lol! When we got to the end they had me take the zone picture and to send everyone a copy. I missed doing hikes when I was in Waipahu. Honolulu has a lot of cool hikes I heard and I can't wait to do them. Today we didn't do a hike, we were supposed to, but they changed it last minute. Instead we did Zumba, lol. Zumba is just like dance exercise stuff, it was pretty funny, we had almost the whole Honolulu zone there. It was good exercise. kicked my butt. lol! hopefully next week we get to do another hike. i love hikes. The tie that you got me is awesome, I called it my year mark tie. I think for District meeting this week we are going to carve pumpkins. We helped carved some last night too. The zone leaders are planning a get together for Halloween, since we can't proselyte that day, so looking forward to that.

Aloha and malo lele!!!! (Tongan for hello)
Wow last week was pretty something...
I guess I'll start off with how I loved being companions with Elder Morris, even if it was for just 1 week!!!!!! I know right, I didn't even get to meet his investigators that he told me so much about because I left before their next appointments! Guess where I am now?......... Honolulu!!!!! Guess which ward............ the Tongan ward!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, I got transferred to Honolulu because they accidentally put 2 Elders that can't drive in the Tongan ward, so the mission President called me and Elder Morris to see if we would be willing to switch companions, so we said yes and then he said that we would transfer on Wednesday. So I've been in Kapolei for exactly 1 week.  I was looking forward to being with Elder Morris in Kapolei because we came out together, but I have a new companion now and his name is Elder Havili. He's from Tonga and he's pretty cool. Elder Morris's new companion is Elder Johnston, he's super tall and funny. So now I'm in the big city and I'm the designated driver now because Elder Havili's license expired and he can't renew it here. Living in the city is weird, we have a tiny apartment and there are so many places and people here. If we weren't in a language ward, our area would probably be super tiny and we would walk everywhere. But since we are in the Tongan ward our area is super big. And I still don't know what they're saying in Church! lol it's all in Tongan. I guess President Warner likes to put me in Polynesian wards now or he wants me to get fat lol! I weigh 180lbs. Elder Havili says the Tongan ward is super cool and that they baptize lots of people, so It'll be exciting here I think. We already found and taught a Chuukese lady named Stana, that went to church a few times in the Honolulu Mcully ward and she said she wants to be baptized next week , so we told the mcully missionaries about her and now they are working with her to get her baptized. I'll be at her baptism so you guys will be able to see a picture of her. Looking forward to this new week in another new area! hopefully I won't get transferred again lol!

October 14th 2013

Aloha everybody!!!!!!!!!
I just got transferred into my new area, Kapolei, HI. Kapolei is a nice area. Nice homes, and pretty new area. Lots of Hawaiian people. Kapolei is right next to ewa beach, which was my first area. Its a pretty small area. but we still have a car because we live way up the mountain in Makakilo town, which is outside of our area. We have an awesome view from our house since were up so high. We also live right across the street from the stake center which is the building we meet at. our ward starts at 9am, so big difference there lol (instead of 2pm).
I was excited when I got my new companion. He is Elder Morris, We were in the MTC together in the same MTC district!!!!!!!!!!! So we skipped the whole introduction thing like we always do and we talked about how our missions were so far. Elder Morris's last area was in Laie! He said he missed it so much. He said they would always do p day activities with all the sister missionaries that serve there in the Laie Temple Visitors center. He said He had lots of fun. I want to go serve there too after he told me about it. We are going to have a great time together, I can tell already. I'm going to miss Elder Mauga though, (that crazy kid lol!). Elder Mauga's new companion is Elder Faitau, He's from Missouri  and he's Tongan, Samoan, and Hawaiian. Quite a mix I know. He only speaks English though. He will be a good companion for him.
So far Elder Morris told me that we have 3 investigators that he's working with. And that one of them always talks about conspiracy theories. I haven't met any of them yet, but it looks like we will have an interesting transfer!

October 7th 2013

Aloha everybody!!! Last week was the last full week of the transfer!! And we had General Conference! We had to wake up at like 5:30am so we could get there in time for the 6am session, Its at 6am because of the time difference, Utah is 4 hours ahead of us. It was hard to stay awake but I still got some notes of the talks. They had 4 different languages going on at the same time. It was pretty cool. The talks that the Apostles and General authorities gave were all awesome, Especially Thomas S. Monson's talks! The Church is growing! Over 80,000 missionaries and over 15 million members, wow! It was pretty cool to see Elder Holland give a talk when only 2 weeks before, he was here in Hawaii! Also Saturday was Elder Jensen's birthday, our zone leader, and we did a short surprise party that night. it was pretty funny.

Alright as far as the Baptism for Joel that was scheduled for this Saturday, Joel works long hours everyday, so we will have to push his baptismal date back a couple weeks because of that, he had to cancel our last few appointments with him. So work with him is still progressing but at a slower pace. He still comes to church every Sunday. At least he still has a desire to be baptized and his girlfriend wants him to get baptized too. Oh we also got transfer calls last night! And I'm going to get transferred, and Elder Mauga is going to take over the area! So he will let me know when Joel will get baptized, while I'm in my next area.
I'll let you guys know where my next area is when I find out!

September 30th 2013

Aloha everybody!!! I hope you guys had a good week! Wow I can't believe that I've been out for almost a year now! Oct 24th Is my year mark! When I look back on my mission I realize that it goes by pretty fast, and how much fun I've had, and all the friends I've made, and the people I've taught and the difference I've made in their lives. Now its all downhill from here! lol! just kidding. Our investigator Joel, the one with a baptismal date for Oct 12, Is progressing very well, the next step, before he gets baptized, is to marry his girlfriend, Penina. They've been living together for a while now. Penina is a member. He thought he could get baptized and then get married, but that's not the case. So they want to meet with the Bishop so they can talk about what they want to do as far as getting married and baptism. Transfers are on Oct 9th. If I get transferred on the 9th then I might not get to be at their marriage and baptism, So I'll have to get the Elders there to send me pictures. Hopefully everything will workout well!!! If I leave I'll definitely get pictures with them. Hope you guys have a great week!!! Pray for Joel!!!
