March 31st 2014

Aloha!!!!!! We had another great week last week! We had another baptism on Saturday, her name is Shay Adolpho. There was a lot of family that came to the baptism, it was great! Shay's father was the one who baptized her. Elder Takei says that he's been working with them for 5 months. The family used to be less active, but not anymore. It's great to see families come back to church and they see the blessings that come into their lives.
Having a lot of baptisms is tiring. Especially Elder Takei, he always says he's tired lol! This is our 3rd week in a row that we've had a baptism. Eta Paea, the sister we baptized in Feb. is now going to move to Seattle, for work and school, so we're going to have a party at their house before she leaves on Thursday this week. We'll miss her a lot.
last week for pday we went to Ka'u the biggest area in the mission. The elders there live 1 hour from the closest missionary lol! We went to South point, the southernmost point in the U.S., and to some rocky shorelines where the waves splash the rocks really hard. South Point is just a big cliff that goes into the ocean, and people jump off the cliff, and there's a ladder that you climb back up on. It looks pretty scary lol! We took some pictures of course, we just were exploring the whole time, we had fun. See you guys next week and i''l update you guys one the next baptism!

March 24th 2014

Aloha everybody!!!
I glad to say that we had the Baptism for Serina last week on Saturday!!!!! I did the baptism and the confirmation. Elder Takei wanted me to do the confirmation also because, Serina has a long middle name lol. It's 30 letters long lol! As long as i could look at the name I could say it fine. But anyways, It was awesome. Serina had her family and friends come who are not members, so we have some more work to do now lol! Serina is like 20 years old and she has one kid thats 1 year old named Kaisen. Kaisen loves to run around during church! He drives her mom crazy lol!
Well, last week we hiked over some dried lava again, there's no lava flow viewing at all right now, so that's a bummer. But I did get some cool pictures. We talked to this guy that was rebuilding his house on the dried lava, because 3 years before the lava destroyed his house. These people are crazy. he showed us pictures of the lava flowing towards his house, and the lava taking down his house, lol! And he still wants to live there. Well that;s all for this week! I'm looking forward to this new transfer.  I'm staying of course

Aloha everybody!!!!!
I'm excited to tell you guys that our baptism went very well on Saturday! They had lots of family come from Honolulu. Pele and Pili, the girls that got baptized are twins, both 10 years old, and I think I can finally tell them apart lol! It was definitely a great experience. I did the confirmation for Pili. They are funny girls and we love to spend time with them.
The baptism that we have scheduled for Serina this coming Saturday is still good. We only met her 3 weeks ago, but she was ready from the start. Like a golden investigator. I'm glad that we were able to find her, she was just waiting for us it seemed like, waiting to hear the gospel. She will definitely be a strong member of the church, and I can't wait for her baptism on Saturday!
Last week we did some exploring on the dried up lava in Kalapana. Or lava desert. It was super cool to think that just a few years ago, this was like a normal area with green grass and stuff. The lava flows destroyed lots of houses in Kalapana, like hundreds. buried the whole town pretty much. But even after that people still live there, we saw brand new houses when we went there. They're crazy lol! Our area is crazy cool lol! I'll definitely take you guys to Kalapana when we come back to visit!!!!!
Love you guys!!!!!!!!!!

Aloha everybody!
I always love to email you guys and send you pictures lol. We went to the volcano last week after I emailed you guys at night. You have to go there after 5pm or else it costs $10. Anyways you can see the red glow from far away, it's pretty cool. As you get closer it gets brighter and more orange. you couldn't see the lava but you can see the bright glow from the lava, but we couldn't get very close. I wanted to go see the sunrise on top of Mauna Kea this morning but Elder Takei didn't want to wake up that early lol. It still has snow on top of it as you can see in the picture I sent.
We have a baptism coming up. It's for 2 girls, they are 10 year old twins, i can't tell them apart yet even though we've been teaching them since i've been here. lol. Their Mom is a member but the father is not. We are excited for them. So this week we will be preparing for their baptism and also for one next week too. Next week will be Serina's baptism. She came to church yesterday, so everything's good to go, and she's excited for her baptism too. Oh and I also spoke in church yesterday too. We check the program and my name is in it to give the missionary moment (that's what they call it). But that's okay when you're a missionary for a while you get used to doing last minute stuff lol!! I shared an experience that me and Elder Takei had on Friday last week. So, we went to one of our Investigators house, she an old lady probably 80s or somthing, second time I've met her. We talked about what the Book of Mormon was andthen read a few verses from it, Alma 7:11-16. Verses 15-16 especially stuck out to her, it talked about showing God that you are willing to repent and keep his commandments, and show that to him by being baptized. As soon as we finished reading that, She asked "How long does it take to get baptized?" Of course we were happy to answer that question, and we set a date for her. Our main concern for her is if she can make it to church, she says she can, but she's going to need help. She has a care taker that comes to her house all the time, making sure she's ok and stuff. But If she really wants to be baptized, it'll happen, I'm sure!!! I guess my talk was okay since everybody came to me and said I did a good job. And when they asked If or how long I prepared for it I said I didn't lol!!
l Love you guys soo much!!!!! see you next time!!!!!

March 3rd 2014

Aloha Everybody!!!!
We had a pretty good week this week. And again I love this area a lot!!! Or Big Island in general. Well to start out we have a new investigator and her name is Serina. She is super excited about the gospel and wants to be baptized!!!!! It's so hard to find people like that but we did. We set the date for the 22nd of this month and she came to Stake conference yesterday. We are super excited for her, and we are looking forward to meeting her again on Tuesday. This is one thing that makes missionary work so fun!!!
We also had zone conference on Friday last week, in Waimea which is in Kona zone on the north west side of the Big Island. It was a long drive and the views along the way were amazing! we went home a different way through the middle of the island, we were hit with a, fog storm (that's what we called it anyway because of the super crazy thick fog), we had to go slow for a lot of the way. This place is soo huge! Zone conference was pretty good and you could tell that President Warner is now comfortable being the mission President, He's not a greenie anymore lol! But yeah, Lele, or Sister Willis was there and Elder Mauga, the Samoan Elder that I trained 8 months ago. Elder Mauga said the opening prayer, and I was amazed at how much English he now knows!!!!!!! So we had fun talking too each other for a little bit, Elder Mauga and Sister Willis.
man I want to say more but i don't have enough time lol! But know that I'm having a good time being a missionary in Big Island!!!!!
