May 12th 2014

Aloha everybody!!! I had a great time Skyping you guys!!! now the next time you see me will be in person!!!!!!! Only 5 1/2 more months left, wow! Anyways, I told you guys last week that we had a temple trip. The temple is in Kona, which is like 2- 2.5 hours away from where we live. It was a pretty cool drive. The other side of the Big Island is totally different. More dry, hot, and no trees everywhere like in Hilo side. You can see for miles. The temple in Kona is a tiny bit smaller than the one in Birmingham, but its still super nice, you can see in the pictures. The temple was closed in April, because they were doing some cleaning/ painting inside. It was a great experience as always!!! The next day was transfer day and I told you guys that Elder Demers was my new companion. He's from Susanville, California, and he's like 6ft 5in. He's tall lol! His last area was a Tongan ward, just like me lol! He 's really cool.
When I skyped you guy I told you that we took our car to the shop Friday morning last week, soo we won't have a car for a full week. So it'll be pretty hard to go visit the people we normally visit. it's a pretty big setback, because our area is pretty huge. So we're going to mainly work in the neighborhood that we live in, Ainaloa.
We set a date for Angie's baptism with the Bishop. We set it for the 24th of May. Soo we are looking forward to that day for Angie. She's excited, she loved the mother's day program at church yesterday. Desiree and her kids weren't able to come to church though, we'll hope they will come next week. We are going to their house on Wednesday to teach a lesson, so we'll ask and see if they will come to church this Sunday. I hope everything goes well this week and we are successful, especially since we don't have a car! Well guys, I'll talk to you next week and enjoy the pictures!!!!!!!!

Aloha everybody!
Well transfers are this week!!! I'm staying thank goodness!!! But my companion Elder Takei is getting transferred. He is going to Waipahu, which is the last place Elder Takei wanted to go he says lol! My new companion's name is Elder Demers, and that's all I know about him lol! So I will be picking up my new companion on Wednesday. Today is not officially P-day because we have a temple trip tomorrow, but we have to email today because we wont have time tomorrow.
Well we have been busy as far as missionary work goes, we found a part member family, the wife is a member, but less active, and the husband and children are not members. They were not on our records, so it was a miracle that they were found! They have 5 kids, and 3 of them we are teaching so that they can be baptized. The father is kind of hesitant on letting them come to church right now, because the mom at first didn't want to come to church, but if they go to church together as a family then there's no problem, they didn't come yesterday, so that was bummer, also Angie wasn't feeling good, she was sick, so she didn't come to church either, bummer again, but I'm patient, and I already know Angie's going to be baptized. I'll update you guys next time on what happens this coming week!!!!!!!! Talk to you guys on Mother's day!!!

Love Elder Randall

April 28th 2014

Aloha everybody!!!! Thanks for all the Happy Birthday cards and emails!!!!! I'll tell you that I enjoyed my birthday a lot. Since we couldn't do anything on Sunday we decided to do it today, so this morning we went to the top of Mauna Kea again!!!!!!! This time we went to see the sunrise. It was pretty cold!! Like 40-45 degrees. So we went and took some pictures and had fun for a little bit and then, we ate my birthday cake that I made, while on top of mauna kea lol! We tried to light the candles but it was too windy lol! We had a great time! Elder Takei didn't want to go but he said he would do it because it was my birthday lol. After a while like 1 hour later, missionaries from Kona zone showed up at the top of the moutian, including the Elder I trained, Elder Mauga. It was great to see him and finally talk to him in regular english lol! when he was my companion, he didn't know much english, but now he's telling me stories of what happened in his mission. We stayed at the top till 8am, but by then I was getting a super headache and light headed from the altitude, so we left back to Hilo to nap then to email. My headache is gone now so that's good. Next time we'll only stay at the top for an hour instead of 3 lol!
Our investigator, Angie, came to church yesterday!  That was super good. She only stayed for sacrament though because of her condition. So after church we met with the Bishop to discuss Angie's baptism. Usually investigators should come to church 3 times before they are baptized, but Angie is a special case. We concluded that Angie should come to church one more time, because we think she is able to. Angie is still excited about her baptism, and realizes that church attendance is so important, so she said to us that she will come to church next week too, even if she is sick or not feeling good, which is pretty amazing to me lol! That just shows how much she wants to get baptized!!! Sooo I know I've said this 3 times now but, Angie's baptism is going to be next week! After she comes to church a second time.

Love,
Elder Randall

P.S. i'm sending some pictures that i didn't get to send last week
