September 22, 2014

Aloha everybody!!! We had a great week! I told you guys last week that we had a dinner on Wednesday with investigators. It was an awesome dinner! The 2 grand parents, the son(wife is already a member), and also the grandchildren want to take the lessons! We set our next appointment on Oct 1st, I wish we could have it sooner but they're going to be busy until then.
The dinner they made us was awesome by the way! We also had 2 of our members invite one of our investigators over for dinner on Monday and Thursday. Our members are starting to help out more. Members help out a lot especially when investigators are going through hard times. I've seen how much the members help out in pretty much all my areas.
We went to the temple last week. They are doing some intense construction over by the visitor center, i forgot to take a picture of it. there used to be like a fountain pool thing but they dug it up and all the concrete around it. Not sure what they're planning to do. The next time i go to the the temple it'll be my last time while on a mission! My mission went by so fast! But then I feel like i lived here a long time lol! I took some pictures for you guys, enjoy!
PS: that water fountain is like a cannon lol!

Elder Randall

September 15th 2014 One Month Left!!!!

Aloha everybody! We had a pretty good week last week. Our main investigator, Nohea, is still in the mainland. She'll be back on the 18th. But other than that we still had a pretty successful week! No appointments cancelled. We had 3 of our investigators come to church yesterday, so that was cool. And on Wednesday we will be meeting with 2 new investigators. They invited us over for dinner! So we are looking forward to that!
For P-day last week we also went to the Sea life park again and this time we got there earlier and stayed for most of the shows! It was pretty fun. There's like a walk in bird cage thing with choke birds and you can feed them, we probably had the most fun in there lol! you can see in the pictures! We are going to the temple tomorrow, so today isn't actually our P-day but we can email today! I think this week will be pretty good, temple trip, dinner with new investigators, yeah! looking forward to it! Take care guys! Talk to you next week!

Aloha!
Elder Randall

September 8th 2014

Aloha everybody! We had a pretty fun week last week. For district meeting on Tuesday, President Warner came to sit in on the meeting. It was Elder Moala's first district meeting as a district leader. He said he was really scared because he thought President would correct him on everything and tell him how to do a district meeting. It was a good district meeting, President gave his input on the training and some new ideas, it was pretty cool. On Wednesday we went to Pearl Harbor! For the 9th time I think lol! I got a T-shirt from them since it was my last time. We helped them take down some banners, because the day before was the anniversary of Japan surrendering on board the USS Missouri in World War 2. It was pretty fun, especially since 2 zones were there, Kaneohe and Honolulu. Did some hanging out and service lol! We finished the service pretty quick because there was so many of us. Then for dinner that night we went to Teddy's bigger burgers and we both got a monster double hamburger, with 2 9oz patties. It was super huge and super good lol! I'll have to take you guys there when we come back lol! For P-day today, we went to the light house. (my 4th time!) But this time for the sunrise. We couldn't really see the sunrise, but we could see the other islands, pretty good, Molokai, Maui, Lanai, and even Big Island. It was pretty cool!
We've had another slowish week as far as missionary work goes. Nohea, and her husband are on the mainland until the 18th so we weren't able to meet with them this morning. So we'll resume teaching them when they come back. We need to emphasize the importance of coming to church next time we see them, because they haven't been yet. We got pretty bored one day and decided to knock on the highest door in our area lol! It's a pretty cool view at the top but takes a while and a lot of sweat to get there lol! We knocked on the highest door and the houses nearby, no luck, but it was still fun. That's all for this week I think! love you guys!!!!!!!

Aloha!,

September 1st 2014

Aloha everybody! As you guys already know last week was transfer week! My new companion is Elder Saunders. He's from Vale Oregon, and he's been out for 10 1/2 months now. This week was a pretty slow week. We had a lot of appointments cancel. It seems like when there's a holiday coming up, no one wants to meet with us lol! We had an appointment this morning with Nohea and her husband, but she had to cancel. For Labor Day the ward will be having a picnic in Waimanalo, and hopefully there will be some non members there that we can talk to. All the members were supposed to invite all their friends and stuff. It'll be pretty fun, its at a beach park though so we'll have to stay on the grass lol! I had to fix my bike yesterday at a members house because the chain kept falling off, it's a beach cruiser with only one gear, so we had to go to a members house that had a socket wrench set and adjust the back wheel to make the chain tighter, so far so good, we'll so how long it lasts now until I have to fix it again. I had a dragon fruit for the first time last week and I got a picture of it. Well, that all I have to write about for this week I think. Hopefully this week will be better. See you next week!!!

August 25th 2014

Aloha everybody! This week was pretty awesome! We just got out of a
lesson with Nohea and her husband Bryson. We had a pretty good lesson
with them. But Bryson isn't sure if he wants to be baptized. So we
asked them to pray about it and also the Book of Mormon and they would
get an answer. We're doing our best to teach them and help them come
closer to the gospel. Nohea is still excited to be baptized, and we're
looking for ward to that and helping her to get to that point.
So this week is transfer week. So I'll be staying and my
companion Elder Moffitt will be leaving to Laie. My new companion is
Elder Saunders, I've served around him before when I was in Honolulu
and he was a greenie. He's a cool guy and I like him a lot, so I'm
pretty sure we'll get along great lol! We are having a zone activity
today for our last P day of the transfer over at China man's hat beach
park. We'll be playing sports stuff over there I guess and eating food
and signing journals.
We also found a couple new investigators while knocking on doors
ans we'll be meeting with them tomorrow, so we are looking forward to
this coming week. Lessons, transfers, new companion, fun stuff lol!
This will be my last transfer on my mission, and the transfer ends on
Oct 15th, so I got to make the most of it before I go home!!!!!!! See
you guys next week!! Take care!! Oh and there's pics of the sea life
park, that was pretty cool. We got to see dolphins jump out of the
water and do flips and stuff lol!

August 18th 2014

Aloha everybody! We had a good week this week. I went on an exchange Wednesday with the zone leaders because my comp is a district leader. The area the Kaneohe zone leaders cover is Kahaluu, which is my 2nd area! It was great to see my old area and the people there!! The next day we had zone conference. Zone conference was pretty good. They always have the missionaries that are going home this transfer or the next transfer give their testimonies. So since I'm going home next transfer I gave my testimony!! We call it a "dying testimony" lol! I can't believe it's almost been 2 years now! It went by pretty fast. I'm grateful to be in the best mission in the world!! lol!
After Zone conference we went straight to a lesson at the church. A sister in our ward brought a friend that was interested in hearing the gospel. So we taught her the restoration, and she wants to hear more and also be baptized!!! So we set a date for Sep. 20th. We have a lesson with her and her husband tomorrow morning, and we'll commit her husband as well. She's pretty sure her husband will want be baptized too, so we're hoping for the best tomorrow! We had a lesson with the guy that referred himself on mormon.org yesterday. It was a pretty good lesson, he knows a lot already about the church, he just wanted to hear it from us missionaries. He said he'll think about joining I he thinks it's true, so we told him how he could get his own answer from God. The only thing that I thought was funny was that he doesn't want to meet with us until he finishes reading the Book of Mormon, so he said we could come visit him a month later. It's cool that he's reading the Book of Mormon, but I wish we could at least meet with him once a week. I'm looking forward to this week, well mostly tomorrow, to have our lesson with Nohea and her husband. see you guys next week!

August 11th 2014

Aloha everybody!! We had a pretty good week last week. I like this area. You guys probably heard about the hurricanes that we had. It got downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it got to Big Island, so by the time it got to Oahu, it just a rained a lot. We helped our Bishop Our mission president had us stay in side our apartments until like 3pm when it stopped raining, which I thought was kind of funny. All the schools and stuff were closed for the day too. We were expecting a huge storm so we were wondering when it was really going to "hit" lol! I heard that my old area on the Big Island, Pahoa area, got hit the hardest out of all the places in Hawaii. There were downed tress everywhere along roads, everyone has no power and might be without it for weeks. There was also a second hurricane but it is too far north now so it didn't touch us. Right now it's sunny clear skies, usually it's partly cloudy or overcast, so that's nice.
We did a hike this morning. It was one of the same hikes I did like almost 18 months ago. The pill box is what it's called, we went early to catch the sunrise. It was a pretty nice view at the top. We were all like "it's great to be in Hawaii!". I remember last time I went on this hike it was super muddy, but this time it was dry, even though we just had a storm a couple days ago. I have a couple pictures for you guys!
Missionary work is going good, we just got a referral from mormon.org. A guy referred himself and requested a Book of Mormon. His name is Andrew, he's a Catholic minister guy. We met him , gave a Book of Mormon, and set an appointment this coming Sunday. He's a pretty nice guy and wants to know more about what we believe. It'll be pretty interesting, we don't know if he'll progress, but we hope for the best! We are also going to be teaching the after baptism lessons with Kaileen this week, usually they have the members do that, but now we should be there teaching the lessons with a ward missionary. We have another investigator that we teach, her daughter is a recent convert, but she hasn't been baptized yet because she has some concerns, one of them having to do with women and the priesthood. She also goes up to Laie on the weekends, so we don't see her at church. We didn't teach her last week because of the "storm", so hopefully we'll teach her again this week, and be able to resolve her concerns and commit her to be baptized!!!. Hope you guys have a good week! Take care!!!

Aloha,
Elder Randall
